Worth Noting

  • Richards Writing Memoirs
In what could prove to be the most scintillating rock memoir in recent memory, the bidding war over Keith Richards' self-penned life story has been sold to Little, Brown and Company

  • John From Cincinnati
A lot of people have been both intrigued and frustrated by David Milch's (Deadwood) spiritual surfing saga, what with its at times nonsensical dialogue and impenetrable plot, but any show that uses Joe Strummer for its theme and features Al Bundy, Zach Morris and Dylan McKay, has my vote.
  • Find He-Man
I spotted the dude near Madison Square Park, only to hear about this site after the fact. This seemingly indestructible quasi-human and I will cross paths again one day...
  • The Bronx is Burning
John Turturro's ears are ridiculous, but the rest of this ESPN original series chronicling life during the Yanks '77 season is spot on.
  • Smokin' Aces
Jeremy Piven's first high profile, post-Emmy gig was far more entertaining than it had any right to be. Guilty pleasure of 2006.
  • Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
After over a dozen years, Spoon is still delivering the goods, and people are finally starting to notice.

Guitar Hero III Rocks Your Xbox This October

July 03, 2007

With the David Cross/J. Mascis showdown confirming that NYC hipsters do in fact still love their video games, news of Guitar Hero III's arrival this October is a lot more interesting post to us than long lines for an iPhone, plus it might be the only way to get a new GNR track this decade.

Tracklist so far:

Original Recordings
"Cult of Personality" by LIVING COLOUR
"Paint It Black" by THE ROLLING STONES
"Cherub Rock" by SMASHING PUMPKINS
"Sabotage" by BEASTIE BOYS
"The Metal" by TENACIOUS D
"My Name Is Jonas" by WEEZER
"Knights of Cydonia" by MUSE
"Evenflow" by PEARL JAM
"Lay Down" by PRIESTESS

Cover Songs
"Rock And Roll All Nite" as made famous by KISS
"School's Out" as made famous by ALICE COOPER
"Slow Ride" as made famous by FOGHAT
"Barracuda" as made famous by HEART

It might cost $100, but we'll shell that out just for The Beastie Boys' "Sabotage."
