Vinyl Pre-Order a Hit with Ryan Adams Faithful

I'll say this about Ryan Adams fans - they're a rabid bunch.  Case in point: On Tuesday the band launched a pre-order promotion for the upcoming Cardinology LP that includes a vinyl copy (left) of the disc, a set of 17 postcards from the current US tour, and a limited edition T-Shirt featuring the artwork of Leah Hayes for 40 bucks.  48 hours later all sizes of the t-shirt are already out of stock except the XXLs, but Hayes artwork alone - which will include lyrics and a comic nook (natch) - should be worth the price of admission for the rest of you crazies (guilty)

The release will also include a bonus 7" and digital download code. Place your orders here.

Coldplay Readies Duel EPs

Given my newfound and begrudging respect for Coldplay, the band's upcoming EPs have peeked my interest.  First up on 11.10, Lost will feature a new version of the Viva la Vida track sporting a guest turn from Jay-Z, plus three other tunes.   Then there's Prospekt's March, supposedly also set for a November release.  Chris Martin claims that the disc will feature songs that "might be considered too catchy or too heavy for Coldplay songs but in our minds... complete the Viva La Vida picture" - We'll see.  But it's nice to see the band continuing to dig itself out of the "Poor Man's U2" grave it dug on X&Y.

Jesse Malin Readies Live Disc

It looks like Jesse Malin is beginning to take a page from friend and occasional collaborator, the oft prolific Ryan Adams.  Following his 2007 LP Glitter in the Gutter, the former D Generation frontman has churned out three additional sets, culminating in a December 15 live disc, Mercury Retrograde - Live in New York City.

Expect an over-sharey, on-again/off-again blog any day now.  Check out the tracklist for Mercury after the jump.

Minus The Bear Readies Acoustic EP, Fall Tour

An acoustic release from Minus the Bear sounds like tricky business (much of the band's appeal comes from plugged-in guitar taps and electro fills), but couched as a digital-only EP, Acoustics will probably still be a must-buy for hardcore fans.

The seven-song set leans heavily on the bands newer, less jokey material, but does include fan favorite "We Are Not a Football Team" and new track "Guns & Ammo."

Acoustics will be available for download on 10.07, will a Fall tour kicking off the following day.  Sample tracks the new EP at Amazon, and check out the full track list and tour dates after the jump.

Guns and Roses Album Saga Comes to Familiar, Depressing End

Sorry for the slow start to the week gang - We'll make with the postin' in a bit.  But here's one to chew on in the meantime: Do you think that guys like Glen Fry, Angus Young, or Axl Rose, in their respective years of trashing hotel rooms, picking bar fights and doing blow off a hooker's thighs, ever thought they'd be releasing albums exclusively through electronics superstores, or Christian conservative-targeted, discount department chains that once pulled copies of Redbook off the shelves because it was too racy?

For those who used to rock - we miss you.

Kanye Still Livin' the Good Life

Kanye West's paprazzi dust-ups and delicate sensibilities certainly haven't done any damage to the guy's career.  In fact, word just came down that the release date for his upcoming 808s and Heartbreak LP has been moved up to "November something"  and away from another potential  beatdown for 50 Cent, who has his own album set for December.  Maybe there's such a thing as too much Kanye West, but with a #3 debut for "Love Lockdown" on the Billboard singles chart (a career best), we haven't seen that day just yet.

But then again, if the dude is gonna jump the shark, this puppet show thing is a helluva start.  Check out a teaser for the show after the jump.

Jumping Ahead: 2009 Albums

2009 is shaping up to potentially be a kick-ass year for new music, with lots of SS favorites hitting the studio this Fall.  Below are a dozen to look out for:

- Wilco: The follow-up to Sky Blue Sky is expected to be a more "studio" oriented disc (a la A Ghost is Born), headed towards a Spring release.

- Kings of Convenience:  It's been four years since Riot on an Empty Street, but "I'd Rather Dance With You" is still a favorite.  The duo is in the midst of recording, so here's hoping we see something soon.

Cardinology Track List Surfaces

Yesterday we confirmed a release date of 10.28 for Cardinology, the upcoming rock and roll-skewing disc from Ryan Adams and The Cardinals (technically it's just "The Cardinals" now, but I'm just not sure people would know what the heck that is just yet), and today we bring you the full track list.  Check it out after the jump.

Cardinology Confirmed for 10.28 Release

You've heard the rumors, and now it's official - Cardinology on 10.28!  No confirmed leaks yet, but if any of the tracks Adams and co. have been road-testing make the cut, we could be in for a good one...

Rhino Previews Next Round of Replacements Reissues

On 9.23 Rhino will release a second round of deluxe Replacements reissues, take from the band's Sire releases.  Tim, Pleased To Meet Me, Don't Tell A Soul and All Shook Down are remastered and "generously embellished with rare, previously unreleased tracks."

Rhino is hosting a listening party, than includes seven cuts culled from the 4 discs.  Thanks to Jodi at PaulWesterberg.net for the heads up!  Looks like I've found today's morning soundtrack.
