Below you will find the positions we currently seek to fill. Unfortunately, as an upstart webzine we are unable to pay for the hard work and dedication of our staffers, but this is a situation we very much hope to change over time. Artist Profilers: In this position you will write profiles of musicians, bands, and other cultural figures, particularly those under the mainstream radar. These pieces will typically include an interview with the artist in question, though this is not a requirement for every submission. An appropriate photo will also be expected. The Profile section will be updated a minimum of one time per week. Please submit a writing sample and resume with your application.
Copy Editor: This position will typically be given to a prospective contributing writer; in addition to whatever written materials they produce. Copy editors will check submitted materials for grammar, style, and consistency, before either sending them back to the writer for significant changes, or forwarding them on for publication. Typically, the position would only require 2-3 hours of work per week, but editors must be available consistently. Please submit a writing sample and resume with your application
Cartoonists: Aspiring artists, perhaps those who already run a web-based comic strip, who are looking for a larger audience are encourage to submit their work to Sonic Slang. Interested candidates should submit a sample strip, an example of artistic abilities, or a link to previously published materials.
